Farming

Happy Home still employs one person to oversee the planting of maize and beans which constitute a major part of their diet. Being on the equator means that they can usually manage two crops of each per year, however, the size of the crop is so often determined by the rains. Too much or too little rain will lead to a poor harvest. This in turn means that the orphanage will have to buy the extra they need when the market price is high.

They also grow a few vegetables and keep a few hens for their eggs and cattle for their milk.
