The children started a long break from school at the beginning of November and they will start back again in January. Some of the children took exams in November.

The short rains started in November and everyone was hoping that they would be sufficient to see a second harvest by the New Year, despite the forecast not being very positive. A new crop of peanuts has been planted.

A new water tank and solar powered pump has been provided by an NGO working in Kenya. One of the neighbours works for the NGO and has been able to make that happen. The expectation is that the pump will help provide more water for the site after the long rains have replenished some of the underground aquifers.

Work on the new classroom has continued. The roof has been completed and the interior walls have been plastered and painted. Ducting for the wiring has been installed.  They are hoping to get the cabling completed in January, with tiling and window installation to be done after that.

There are now 255 children at the school and the number of teachers continues to grow as well. The expectation is that 12 teachers will be in post at Easter. There is now a demand from families in a neighbouring county to attend the school and the Trustees in Kenya are now considering how best to accommodate this need. They hope to have classrooms for every age group from Primary 1 to Grade 9, which will require them building a new classroom each year for a few years to accommodate this.

Joseph is still on crutches but was able to drive short distances and that he had seen a doctor at the end of November. James is improving, following at attack of appendicitis in the USA and then a further diagnosis of failing kidneys, for which he is now on medication.

For Prayer:

  • the children at home with their Guardians during this long summer break.

  • that the new classroom will be ready in time for the start of the new term on Jan. 6th.

  • guidance for the trustees as they seek God's will for the ongoing development of the school.

  • for a resolution to the water supply which is sometimes uncertain.

  • for a good harvest of beans and maize during this season of short rains.

  • for the health of James and Joseph and for all of the trustees in Kenya.
